Installing OpenOffice2.1 on FC6

The version of OpenOffice that is currently in the FC6 repositories is version 2.0 and it's also customized for FC6. So I tried installing OpenOffice 2.1.

  1. Download the tarball from http://www.openoffice.org
  2. Extract the tarball
  3. Install the RPMs.
    # rpm -Uvih *.rpm
  4. Install the red hat RPM in desktop-integration...

This seemed to work, but the usual icons for the different applications were not available. Re-installing the openoffice.org stuff using yum brought them back.
